PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pozar Pozar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain comes to the cage accompanied by My Little Pony Theme Song. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pozar throws an off balance right hand
and Pain counters with a left to the body.
Pain fails with a takedown attempt.
Pozar misses with a hook. Pain ducked under it nicely.
Pain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pozar is fending him off so far but Pain persists. Nope, Pozar circles away and we're back to standing.
Pozar misses with an uppercut.

Pain closes the distance and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Pozar's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pozar is trying to push Pain away but Pain has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Pain ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pain no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Pozar wants to stand but Pain has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pozar is trying to stand back up but Pain is controlling him
Pozar pushes Pain off but Pain dives into side control.

Pain is trying to get an arm triangle but Pozar is defending well.
Pozar tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pozar looks winded!
Pain tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pain seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pozar for as long as he can get away with.
Pain's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Pain sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Pain biding his time, looking for the opening.
Pain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Pozar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Pain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Pain shoots in but Pozar avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Pain ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pain no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Pozar wants to stand but Pain has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pozar gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Pain throws a sloppy head kick and Pozar moves out of range easily.
Pain shoots for a takedown but Pozar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Pain shoots in looking for a takedown. Pozar tries to sprawl out of it but Pain keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pozar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Pain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pozar has had enough of the clinch but Pain keeps him there for the moment.

and Pain counters with an outside leg kick.

Pozar throws a hook to the side of Pain's head but Pain sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Pozar tests Pain's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Pain counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Pain bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Pozar throws the left hand but Pain avoids the punch easily.
Pozar might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Pain counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pozar's knee momentarily.
Pain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pozar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Pain has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pozar after a bit of a struggle.

Pain changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pozar fights it off and pushes away nicely.
