The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Ward, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A nice combination there by Ward.
Stanley blocks a low kick nicely.

Ward clinches with his opponent.
Stanley managing to block the knees to the body from Ward.
Ward looking to slow down the pace here.

Ward pulls guard successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Stanley controls from within his opponent's guard.

Stanley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ward wants to get back to his feet but Stanley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Stanley controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Stanley passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Ward is trying to stand back up but Stanley is controlling him
Ward wants to control but Stanley passes into side.

Stanley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stanley sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ward is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Stanley has an Americana. Ward didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Stanley is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Stanley hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

In his post fight interview, Marvin Stanley started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
