PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clive Churchill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Turbitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Churchill kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Australian National Anthem . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clive Churchill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Turbitt!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turbitt doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Churchill counters with an outside leg kick.
Churchill dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Turbitt. That did some damage!
Churchill throws a leg kick that misses.

Turbitt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Churchill napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Churchill is not content to let Turbitt control the position.
Churchill looking for a sweep but Turbitt has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Turbitt has hold of Churchill's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Churchill manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Turbitt wants to finish this one by submission but Churchill is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Turbitt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Churchill can't escape the position.

Turbitt swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sam Turbitt!
