PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Boitsoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Poldi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boitsoff comes to the cage accompanied by My Domination. Jack Poldi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dmitry Boitsoff!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Poldi!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Boitsoff.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Boitsoff tries for a kimura but Poldi is defending well.
Boitsoff landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Boitsoff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Poldi avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Boitsoff.
Boitsoff working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Poldi is trying to control Boitsoff's posture but Boitsoff avoids it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Poldi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Boitsoff is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Poldi pulls his head out easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poldi moves into full mount! Boitsoff won't be happy about that!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boitsoff is desperately trying to improve his position but Poldi has a good base and remains in mount.

Boitsoff is working hard here to advance position.
Boitsoff sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Boitsoff is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Poldi pulls his head out easily.
Poldi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Poldi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Poldi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Boitsoff does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Poldi is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Poldi trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Poldi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Boitsoff can't escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Poldi wants to control the pace but Boitsoff is squirming around nicely.

Poldi tries to stand but can't do so whilst Boitsoff controls his leg.
Poldi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Poldi wants to stand up but Boitsoff is controlling the position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Poldi is trying to control the action in half guard but Boitsoff is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jack Poldi hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Poldi misses with a double jab.
Boitsoff throws out a loose jab but Poldi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Boitsoff shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Boitsoff tries to score a power double leg takedown but Poldi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boitsoff somewhat.
Boitsoff fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dmitry Boitsoff. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boitsoff throws a hook to the side of Poldi's head but Poldi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

It looks like Dmitry Boitsoff has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Poldi throws a nice head kick!
Poldi throws a series of punches but Boitsoff avoids them all with ease.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Boitsoff drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Boitsoff uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Poldi.

Boitsoff scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Poldi is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Poldi lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Poldi fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Poldi fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Poldi swinging wildly here.
Jack Poldi seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Poldi looks to land a combination but Boitsoff avoids it well.
Boitsoff throws out a loose jab but Poldi uses good head movement to avoid it.
No luck for Boitsoff with that takedown attempt.
Poldi connects with the punch.


Dmitry Boitsoff's cut is getting worse.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A head kick lands from Poldi that sends Boitsoff to the canvas. Boitsoff tries to scramble back to his feet but Poldi brings him back down into side control.


Boitsoff is rocked!
You can see the frustration on Boitsoff's face as Poldi controls the position.
Oh Boitsoff is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Poldi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Boitsoff to his feet.
Boitsoff misses the jab.
Boitsoff seems to have got his legs back now.

Boitsoff fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A jab from Boitsoff misses.
Poldi with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Poldi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


Dmitry Boitsoff's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Poldi throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Poldi connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Poldi lands a right hook to the body.
Boitsoff takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Boitsoff throws a hook to the side of Poldi's head but Poldi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boitsoff takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Nice uppercut there from Poldi.


Jeez, Dmitry Boitsoff's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Poldi waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Boitsoff. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Boitsoff to the canvas! Can he finish him!?


Boitsoff is rocked!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dmitry Boitsoff's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jack Poldi! Jack Poldi retains his light heavyweight title!
A relieved looking Jack Poldi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
