The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Judo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Judo just misses with a elbow thrown towards Cruz's brow.

Judo wants to take the fight to the mat but Cruz manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Judo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Cruz regains guard immediately.

Judo throws his legs up looking for a submission but Cruz uses it to pass to side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cruz wants to control from the top but Judo keeps moving.

Judo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cruz defends it easily.

Judo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cruz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cruz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cruz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Judo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cruz has managed to get both his arms back between Judo's legs - danger averted.
