PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil Mcracken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sang Min Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcracken comes into the arena with 10cc - Dreadlock Holiday blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phil Mcracken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sang Min Kim!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim throws a sloppy head kick and Mcracken moves out of range easily.
Mcracken tries to clinch up

and Kim holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Mcracken holding his opponent close, against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Mcracken.
A knee to the head by Mcracken.
Kim misses with a short punch on the inside.
Kim tries to throw a body punch but Mcracken avoids it by throwing Kim back against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Mcracken.

Mcracken breaks the clinch.
Sang Min Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mcracken tries to clinch but Kim moves out of range.
Mcracken checks a leg kick.
Mcracken slips a straight right by Kim.
Kim avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mcracken shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kim is controlling Mcracken's posture.

Mcracken tries to free his leg and advance position but Kim is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sang Min Kim.
Mcracken avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Mcracken tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kim paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kim throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mcracken counters with a right hand to the body.
Kim's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mcracken under the eye.

Mcracken moves into the clinch successfully.
Kim lands a right hand.

Mcracken's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kim throws a wild body kick that Mcracken sees coming a mile off.

Mcracken blocks a jab.

Mcracken instigates a clinch.
Mcracken stalls.

Mcracken turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mcracken manages to end up in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kim is looking for a sweep.
Kim is trying to control Mcracken's posture but Mcracken avoids it.
Mcracken creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kim sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Mcracken in side control, throwing shots but Kim defends.
Mcracken just content to control the position.
Kim is looking to regain half guard here but Mcracken keeps moving and retains side control.

Mcracken controls the position from side control.
Mcracken lands a nice forearm strike.
Kim trying to remain calm as Mcracken controls from the top position.
You can see the frustration on Kim's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mcracken is chipping away with strikes.
Kim wants to control but Mcracken postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Mcracken seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kim does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kim tries to roll over but Mcracken keeps him under control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mcracken lands a nice short elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Still in half guard, Mcracken seems content to control.

Mcracken thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kim's head.

Mcracken is trying to control. Kim wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Mcracken stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kim swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mcracken is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mcracken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mcracken keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kim's head.
Kim seems keen to control Mcracken's posture.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kim thows a body shot but no joy.

and Mcracken counters with a single leg into guard. Kim didn't expect that.

Mcracken is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kim can do to turn this around?

Phil Mcracken has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Mcracken moves into the clinch.
Mcracken is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kim pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kim misses with a punch on the inside.
Mcracken stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Kim is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mcracken is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kim to the mat. Kim regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kim wants to control but Mcracken is having none of it.

Mcracken with shots to the head and body - Kim looks very uncomfortable down there.


Kim is rocked!
Mcracken loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Kim scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Mcracken land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Mcracken stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phil Mcracken!
After winning the bout, Phil Mcracken thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
