Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corbean Transler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corbean Transler has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Corbean Transler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tim Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Transler shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alvarez as he jumps to the side.
Alvarez fails with the takedown.

Transler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Transler not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Transler working over Alvarez with some ground and pound. Alvarez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Transler looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Alvarez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Alvarez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Alvarez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Transler not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Alvarez kicks Transler off and gets back to his feet.
Transler tries for a takedown but Alvarez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Transler tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Alvarez counters with a single leg into guard. Transler didn't expect that.
Alvarez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Transler seems keen to control Alvarez's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez wanted to stand there but Transler had control of the position.
Transler wants to sweep here but Alvarez controlling him for the moment.
Transler manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alvarez tries to lock up and control but Transler gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Alvarez is looking to get to half guard.
Alvarez is squirming around, avoiding Transler's attempts to control the action.
Transler unloading with bombs!
Alvarez is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Transler working the ground and pound effectively.

It looks like Tim Alvarez has been cut.
Transler landing strikes from the mount and Alvarez is in trouble!
Alvarez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Alvarez wants to get back to his feet.
Transler looking to control but Alvarez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Alvarez wants to hold on but Transler pushes him away.
Alvarez is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Alvarez regains half guard.
Transler thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Alvarez kicks off Transler and gets to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Alvarez. No joy for Transler on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Corbean Transler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Transler goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


That has opened up Tim Alvarez's cut even more.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alvarez is defended easily by Transler.
Transler swinging wildly here.
Transler tries to bum rush Alvarez with a series of wild strikes but Alvarez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Alvarez walks into a jab.


The cut above Tim Alvarez's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Alvarez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Transler tries to avoid it but Alvarez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Transler to the ground. Transler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alvarez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No luck for Transler with that takedown attempt.
Alvarez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Transler is looking to clinch.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Transler sprawls well. Transler wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alvarez gets slowly back to his feet.
Transler is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Transler fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Corbean Transler dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tim Alvarez's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Transler tries to clinch up
and Alvarez counters with a nice low kick that buckles Transler's knee momentarily.
Alvarez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Transler avoids it really well and circles away.

and Transler counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Transler keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Alvarez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Transler defends it nicely.
Corbean Transler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Alvarez.
Alvarez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Transler lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Transler.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alvarez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Transler sprawls well initially but Alvarez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Alvarez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Transler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Alvarez is breathing heavily.

Transler preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Transler wants to sweep but Alvarez has passed to side control!
Transler is trying to get back to half guard.
Transler dodges the ground and pound from Alvarez.
Alvarez trying to control the action but Transler is working from the bottom.
Transler is looking to reverse the position.

Alvarez is putting a hurting on Transler here, landing some big shots from side control.

Alvarez stands up.
Alvarez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Transler.
Transler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alvarez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Transler somewhat.

Transler fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Alvarez, pushing him back against the cage.

Alvarez tries to circle away but Transler has him pinned against the cage.

Transler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Alvarez scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Corbean Transler has been cut.
Corbean Transler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Alvarez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Transler circles away quickly and effectively.
Transler throws a right and a left that Alvarez avoids nicely.

Alvarez gets caught flat footed, as Transler shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Alvarez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Transler with a flurry of punches that miss.
Alvarez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alvarez is on top in guard.

Alvarez postures up in Transler's guard and throws a big left but Transler blocks it.
Transler wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Alvarez wanted to stand there but Transler had control of the position.
Alvarez works over Transler with some ground and pound from guard.
Transler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Transler tries to get out of the position.
Transler manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alvarez manages to get himself to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alvarez wants to sweep but no luck.
Transler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Corbean Transler will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Transler shoots in for a takedown but Alvarez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Transler tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alvarez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Transler rushes Alvarez and presses him up against the cage.
Alvarez is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Transler to keep the fight standing.
Transler has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Alvarez after a bit of a struggle.

Alvarez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alvarez leaves Transler with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tim Alvarez was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Transler has taken the fight to the clinch.
Transler is working for takedown but Alvarez is calmly controlling the position for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alvarez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Transler tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alvarez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Corbean Transler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Transler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Transler slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Tim Alvarez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Alvarez.

Corbean Transler showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Transler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
