Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mateus Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmundo Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mateus Allen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Jr!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jr is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Allen's half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Jr seems to be looking for submissions.
Allen is looking to improve his position.
Allen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Allen manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Allen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Allen tries to avoid it but Jr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Allen to the ground. Allen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Allen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Allen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jr.
Jr dives in and grabs Allen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes down on Jr's head and hops out.
Mateus Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edmundo Jr.
Jr looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Jr fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Allen to the ground. Jr is now in Allen's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Allen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Allen is pulling down on Jr's head to control his posture.
Jr postures up in Allen's guard and throws a big left but Allen blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Allen working a defensive guard here.
Jr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Allen is keeping the position for now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jr stopping the sweep attempt from Allen.
Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Allen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Allen seems keen to control Jr's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Mateus Allen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Allen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jr.
Edmundo Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Allen leaves Jr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Allen gets a clinch.

Allen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Allen circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jr closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Allen quickly recovers to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jr thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jr prevents Allen from standing back up.
Jr looks to land a strike but Allen avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Jr is looking to work some ground and pound but Allen has wrist control.
Allen wants to stand but Jr is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Allen is trying to keep Jr in close.
Jr wants to control from the top but Allen keeps moving.
Allen controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mateus Allen.
Jr fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice uppercut there from Allen.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Allen!

Jr closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jr lands in his opponent's guard.
Jr throws a big right hand that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Allen pushes Jr off and gets back to his feet.
Jr tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Allen swivels and escapes.
Allen stuffs the takedown.
Allen lunges at Jr with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jr's hand.
Jr dives in and grabs Allen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes down on Jr's head and hops out.
Jr shoots in for a double leg but Allen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Allen lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Jr ducks under a wild hook from Allen.
Jr doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Allen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Allen throws a hook to the side of Jr's head but Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jr fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mateus Allen will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Allen counters with a stiff right hand.
Jr keeps the fight on the outside.
Jr takes one to the chin there.
Jr avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A punch combination from Allen misses.
Jr shoots and misses
and Allen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Allen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jr shoots for a double leg takedown but Allen sprawls well. He's pushed Jr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mateus Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edmundo Jr.
Allen fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Allen counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jr misses with a takedown attempt
and Allen counters with a left and a right... And another left! Jr is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mateus Allen!
Mateus Allen retains his featherweight title!
Mateus Allen seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
