PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Yaramoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taiki Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki has chosen Gangnam Style as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Yaramoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Taiki Aoki!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yaramoto lands with a slapping head kick.
Aoki shoots in for a takedown but Yaramoto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Aoki moves into the clinch successfully.
Aoki has Yaramoto pressed against the cage.
Yaramoto is stalling here.
Yaramoto scores with a knee to the head.
Aoki has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Yaramoto is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Aoki drops down looking for an ankle pick but Yaramoto pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kenji Yaramoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taiki Aoki.
Yaramoto is looking to clinch but Aoki is avoiding it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yaramoto shoots in for a takedown but Aoki shows good takedown defense.
Aoki has his takedown stuffed

and Yaramoto counters by moving into the clinch.
Aoki is looking to take this one to the mat.
Yaramoto lands a nice elbow.

Yaramoto breaks from the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yaramoto shoots in looking for a takedown. Aoki tries to sprawl out of it but Yaramoto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aoki manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Aoki is defended easily by Yaramoto.

Aoki shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Aoki showed some decent athleticism there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Aoki missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Aoki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Yaramoto sees it coming and defends easily.

Aoki is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Aoki thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Yaramoto's head.
Yaramoto blocking the ground and pound attempt from Aoki.
Yaramoto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Aoki is looking for a kimura but Yaramoto is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Aoki to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Aoki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yaramoto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Aoki is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Yaramoto!
Yaramoto is breathing heavily.

Aoki wants to finish this one by submission but Yaramoto is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Aoki.

Aoki looking for a guillotine from mount but Yaramoto is having none of it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Aoki stands up from mount. Strange move.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Aoki misses with a takedown

and Yaramoto holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taiki Aoki dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Aoki fails with the takedown
and Yaramoto counters with a nice body kick.

Aoki pushes Yaramoto up against the cage in a clinch.

Yaramoto jumps guard and drags Aoki to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Aoki passes Yaramoto's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Aoki is trying to work for a kimura but Yaramoto is defending well.

Aoki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Yaramoto sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aoki performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Aoki is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Yaramoto is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Taiki Aoki!
Post fight, an emotional Taiki Aoki said 'Domo Arigato!'.
