The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Terell throws a right and a left that both miss.
The fighters circling - Datsik throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Datsik wants to pass the guard but Terell is keeping the position.

Datsik's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Terell is looking to control Datsik's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Terell avoid being mounted?

Terell wants to improve his position but Datsik is controlling well.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Viacheslav Datsik just wasn't active enough.

Terell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Datsik tries to avoid it but Terell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Datsik to the ground. Datsik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Terell takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Datsik connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Datsik goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Terell has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Datsik finds it's way round the side to connect with Terell's head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Datsik displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Terell throws out the jab.
Terell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Datsik tries to avoid it but Terell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Datsik to the ground. Datsik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Terell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Datsik avoids it really well and circles away.
Viacheslav Datsik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mason Terell.

Terell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Datsik was covering up waiting for the punch and Terell finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Datsik is sitting in close to Terell's body. Terell has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Datsik is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Datsik is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Terell.
