Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Gites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Cyborg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cyborg has chosen Awaken as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cyborg dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cyborg lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gites's sensitive parts.
Gites throws a leg kick but Cyborg moved away.
Cyborg throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice straight punches there by Cyborg. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Cyborg.
Cyborg bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gites works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Gites takes a swing at Cyborg's ribcage but misses.
Gites just misses with a punch to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Gites misses the target.
Gites scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Cyborg misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cyborg fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gites has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Cyborg leaves Gites with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cyborg stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gites.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gites scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gites throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cyborg connects with an inside leg kick.
Gites misses with a wild body shot.

Chris Cyborg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gites shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Gites looks to land a left hand but Cyborg moved out of range nicely.
Gites throws a hook but Cyborg blocks it.
Gites looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cyborg closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Cyborg.

Gites jumps guard and drags Cyborg to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Cyborg is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Gites isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cyborg stacks Gites on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cyborg!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cyborg is nestled in close to Gites, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Cyborg thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gites's head.
Cyborg lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Cyborg stalling away here and it's allowed Gites to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Gites escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cyborg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cyborg scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Cyborg wants to stand but Gites is controlling his posture from full guard.
Gites is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cyborg is aware though and is defending well.
Cyborg lands a couple of digs.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cyborg postures up in Gites's guard and throws a big left but Gites blocks it.
Gites pushes a forearm under Cyborg's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Cyborg is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Gites!
