Mandela's entrance music is Free Nelson Mandela. A fine choice. Nelson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Step into a world - KRS One. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nelson Mandela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Kimbo Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mandela has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Mandela drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Nelson is looking for a sweep.

Mandela working away.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kimbo Nelson wasn't active enough on the ground.
Nelson works Mandela's body with a nice hook.
Crunch! Mandela slams his shin into Nelson's torso.
Nelson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nelson enables Mandela to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nelson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mandela stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nelson is looking to stand up but Mandela isn't so interested in that idea.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mandela.
A punch combination from Mandela misses.
Mandela stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Nelson.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nelson throws a shot to the body.
Nelson throws a series of punches but Mandela moves out of range.
Mandela swings for the body but Nelson moves out of range.
Nelson blocks a jab.

A head kick misses from Nelson.
Kimbo Nelson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nelson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mandela. That did some damage!
Nelson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Nelson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A punch combination from Nelson misses.
Nelson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mandela moves away.

Mandela shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nelson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimbo Nelson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mandela throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Nelson checks the leg kick nicely there.
Nelson slips under a jab from Mandela.
Nelson cracks Mandela with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


It looks like Nelson Mandela has been cut.
Mandela throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nelson's waist but Nelson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mandela off to one side.
Nelson throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Mandela tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mandela drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Kimbo Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson stuffs the takedown.
Nelson connects with a crisp jab.
Nelson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


Mandela is rocked!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nelson fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Mandela square on the jaw! Damn, Mandela is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Our winner, Kimbo Nelson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
