Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dryden Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Whonjon William (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dryden Mitchell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Whonjon William!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from William.
William pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Mitchell fakes the leg kick and cracks William in the body.
William tries to clinch there but Mitchell circles away.
William misses with a body shot
and Mitchell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
William moves out of range as Mitchell throws a body kick.
Mitchell misses with a leg kick
and William counters with a straight right hand.
Mitchell swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mitchell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
William slips under a jab.
William moves out of range of the leg kick from Mitchell.
William takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mitchell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but William manages to avoid it.

William avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Dryden Mitchell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - William looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mitchell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mitchell tries to score with a low kick but William moves his leg out of the way.

William closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - William lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
William is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
William is looking to work some ground and pound but Mitchell has wrist control.
William has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mitchell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. William manages to get himself to full guard.
William seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

William escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mitchell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mitchell decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on William, up you get!
William uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mitchell.
Mitchell avoids the body shot from William.
Mitchell throws a body punch but William moves out of range.
Mitchell misses with an uppercut. William saw that one coming.
William ducks under a wild hook from Mitchell.
William lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mitchell at a distance.
William tries to clinch up.
William avoids the head kick by Mitchell.

William throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Mitchell counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
William shoots in for a takedown but Mitchell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mitchell misses with a hook. William ducked under it nicely.
Mitchell swings for the body but William moves out of range.
Mitchell lands a leg kick that knocks William off balance momentarily.

Mitchell catches William with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mitchell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
William doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mitchell throws a shot to the body.
William lunges at Mitchell with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mitchell's hand.
Mitchell scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mitchell lands a glancing blow to the side of William's head.
Mitchell connects with a jab.

William feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
William controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
William wants to control from the top but Mitchell keeps moving.
Mitchell looking for a sweep. Not yet Mitchell, not yet.
Mitchell controls William momentarily but William frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitchell has William pulled in close to control his posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mitchell tried to score with a low kick but William checks it.

Mitchell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from William.
William swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mitchell throws a shot from downtown. William moves away and avoids it.
Mitchell moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Mitchell lands with an overhand left.
William tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mitchell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten William somewhat.
William checks a low kick from Mitchell.
William looks to score with a jab to the body but Mitchell is just out of range.

William closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mitchell to the mat! Mitchell manages to get full guard.

William slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Whonjon William has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mitchell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but William wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mitchell is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked William off and has taken his back!

William is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mitchell pulls his head out easily.
William moves into full guard.
Mitchell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of William is proving hard to escape from.

William is not content to let Mitchell control the position.
William is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mitchell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mitchell's back!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mitchell manages to escape to a better position under a series of strikes. William is now in side control.
William with the ground and pound but Mitchell regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dryden Mitchell will probably get the nod.

William takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

William throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

William throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mitchell's waist but Mitchell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing William off to one side.

Mitchell wants to sweep here but William controlling him for the moment.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

William is looking to take a break and control but Mitchell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

William is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
William prevents Mitchell from improving his position.

William takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

William seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
