The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot lands for Carter.
Carter misses with a left hand

and Ashton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carter's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Carter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ashton trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Carter manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Ashton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carter keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ashton's head.
Ashton wants to get back to his feet but Carter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Carter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ashton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Ashton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ashton is tightening it up a little... Carter has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Carter reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Carter taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ashton!
