Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Katsuo Takeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Vanguard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takeda comes to the cage accompanied by Warrior Asylum by Disturbed. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Katsuo Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Grant Vanguard!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vanguard steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Takeda.
Takeda takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
A telegraphed right hand from Takeda misses the target.
Takeda tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vanguard was well out of range. Poor timing from Takeda.
A jab from Takeda misses.
Takeda looks for a takedown but Vanguard sprawls well.
Vanguard lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Takeda at a distance.
Vanguard ducks under a wild hook from Takeda.

Vanguard gets caught napping as Takeda dives in and scores a takedown. Vanguard manages to retain guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Takeda is pushing down on Vanguard's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vanguard is fighting to maintain full guard but Takeda has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Takeda is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Vanguard has managed to free his arm - good work.

Takeda looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Vanguard is not content to let Takeda control the position.
Vanguard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Takeda is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Takeda throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Vanguard to regain full guard.
Takeda working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Takeda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Takeda wants to control from the top but Vanguard keeps moving.
Takeda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vanguard not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Takeda landing some decent shots from guard.
Takeda cracks Vanguard with a solid left hand.

Takeda drops back, looking for a kneebar! Vanguard looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Vanguard looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Vanguard!

Takeda is trying to control Vanguard's posture but Vanguard avoids it.

Vanguard stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Takeda blocks a head kick by Vanguard.
Takeda checks a low kick from Vanguard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vanguard looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Vanguard lands a nice leg kick that just misses Takeda's sensitive parts.
Vanguard pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takeda fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vanguard manages to avoid it.

Takeda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vanguard sprawls well initially but Takeda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Takeda working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Takeda throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Takeda throwing shots but Vanguard is blocking nicely.

Takeda tries to pass to full mount but Vanguard defends it.
Vanguard regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Takeda.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Katsuo Takeda dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Vanguard lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Takeda has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Takeda and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Takeda throws a right and a left that Vanguard avoids nicely.
Vanguard scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Vanguard lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Takeda walks into a stiff left hand from Vanguard.
A head kick misses from Vanguard.
Takeda doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Takeda. Vanguard does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vanguard takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Grant Vanguard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vanguard connects with an inside leg kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Takeda is defended easily by Vanguard.
Vanguard throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Takeda sees it coming and avoids it easily.
An inside leg kick lands from Vanguard.
Takeda swings for the body but Vanguard moves out of range.
Vanguard connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Takeda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vanguard but Vanguard pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Takeda doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Vanguard counters with a low kick, right behind Takeda 's knee.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Katsuo Takeda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vanguard with a jab.
Takeda connects with a single shot there.
Takeda lands with a good body shot.

Takeda throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Vanguard looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Takeda is looking to wear down Vanguard with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Vanguard lands with a shot to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Vanguard.

Takeda shoots in for a takedown but Vanguard shows good takedown defense.
Vanguard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Takeda has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Vanguard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A looping hook to the body misses from Takeda. Vanguard does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vanguard scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Takeda takes a swing at Vanguard's ribcage but misses.
Takeda looks to land a right hand but Vanguard moved out of range.
Vanguard throws a leg kick but Takeda sees it coming and moves out of range.
Takeda misses with a hook. Vanguard ducked under it nicely.

Takeda throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Vanguard shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Takeda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vanguard's waist but Vanguard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Takeda off to one side.
Vanguard scores with a hook to the body. Takeda takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Takeda keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Takeda tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vanguard delivers a nice body kick.
Takeda is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Good leg kick by Vanguard there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Vanguard throws a body punch but Takeda moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grant Vanguard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Takeda fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Grant Vanguard seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Vanguard throws a nice looking combination but Takeda bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nice sprawl there from Vanguard as Takeda shoots in.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Vanguard.
Takeda misses with a series of wild punches.
Takeda shoots in but Vanguard avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Vanguard buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Takeda takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Oh Takeda is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Vanguard pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takeda tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vanguard was well out of range. Poor timing from Takeda.
Takeda throws a body punch but Vanguard moves out of range.
A punch combination from Vanguard misses.
Takeda seems to have got his legs back now.

Takeda looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Takeda working Vanguard over with strikes.
Takeda wants to pass the guard but Vanguard is defending well.
Katsuo Takeda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Takeda throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Vanguard to regain full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Takeda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Takeda wants to control from the top but Vanguard keeps moving.
Takeda wants to pass the guard but Vanguard is keeping the position.
Vanguard controls Takeda momentarily but Takeda frees himself.
Takeda is looking to work some ground and pound but Vanguard has wrist control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Takeda drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Vanguard dives on top into guard.
Takeda wants to sweep but no luck.

And that's the end of the fight!
Grant Vanguard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Vanguard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
