The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pope with a lazy takedown attempt
and Muakbar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Pope is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Muakbar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pope was well out of range. Poor timing from Muakbar.
A big left from Muakbar misses.
Muakbar misses with a body kick.
Muakbar tried to score with a low kick but Pope checks it.
Pope with a poor takedown
and Muakbar counters with a series of strikes. Pope will be more careful next time no doubt.

Haji Muakbar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Pope.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Muakbar lunges at Pope with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pope's hand.
Muakbar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Pope counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Muakbar scores with the left hand. Pope knows he should have avoided that one.
Pope is rocked!
Pope tries to close the distance and clinch but Muakbar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Pope is still on wobbly legs! Can Muakbar finish him?
Pope is trying desperately to land a takedown but Muakbar is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Pope.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pope takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Pope walks straight into a right hand from Muakbar - that's dropped him! Muakbar jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Pope from any more punishment! Pope complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Haji Muakbar!
After the fight, Haji Muakbar was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
