The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a jab to the body
and Hess makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Hess throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range.

Jon Hess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson is breathing heavily.
Hess closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends Johnson crashing to the mat! Johnson uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!
It looks like Junior Johnson has been cut.
Hess thuds his right hand into Johnson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Johnson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Hess creates a bit of space for himself and unleashed what can only be described as a tiger uppercut, straight out of Street Fighter! Johnson crashes to the mat! Can he make it back to his feet in time? 3,4,5,6... it doesn't look like he's going to make it! Johnson face plants back to the mat and the referee calls off the fight! Hess takes it with a brutal technical knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Jon Hess! Jon Hess retains his super heavyweight title!
Jon Hess decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
