The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

It looks like Artur Kukla has been cut.
Alves lands a nice hook to Kukla's body. Kukla takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Alves lands with a nice combination. Kukla backs away looking to recover.
Alves misses with a series of wild punches.

Kukla scores with a takedown into Alves's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alves wants to stand up but Kukla is controlling him.
Kukla trying to control but Alves is working from the bottom.
Alves wants to stand and escape but Kukla is having none of it.

Alves wants to stand but Kukla is controlling the position.
Kukla tries to free his leg and advance position but Alves is retaining full guard.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Kukla is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kukla must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kukla throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alves works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Artur Kukla was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Alves pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kukla back to the cage. Alves follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Alves defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kukla.
Alves scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Kukla takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Alves swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fighters circle momentarily. Alves darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Alves lands a left and a right that send Kukla crashing to the mat, dazed. Alves thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Kukla is rocked!
Alves throws a pinpoint strike between Kukla's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Kukla crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Alves scores a great knockout victory!
