PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Pembelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Napalm Chief (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pembelton comes to the cage accompanied by Hail Mary by Tupac. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Pembelton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Napalm Chief!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chief throws a right and a left that both miss.

Pembelton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chief was covering up waiting for the punch and Pembelton finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Chief wants to control the position but Pembelton says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pembelton lands a nice short elbow.
Chief looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chief controlling the position for now.

Pembelton seems to be working for a kimura but Chief defends the submission attempt.
Pembelton is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Chief wants to get back to full guard.

Chief is refusing to be controlled, as Pembelton sits in half guard.

Pembelton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chief with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Chief is staying active underneath Pembelton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nice uppercut lands for Pembelton. That snapped Chief's head back.
Chief takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Chief stuffs the takedown attempt from Pembelton. Pembelton gets slowly back to his feet.

Pembelton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pembelton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Pembelton will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Chief throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pembelton is looking to wear down Chief with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

A punch lands to the side of Chief 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Frank Pembelton showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pembelton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
