Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Guilherme Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Carlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Guerreiro by Curumin. Carlo has chosen NFG-Anthem for the Unwanted as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Guilherme Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Carlo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Carlo closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


It looks like Jim Carlo has been cut.
Carlo connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Alves momentarily.

Carlo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alves to the ground. Carlo is now in Alves's guard.
Carlo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carlo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Alves taking punishment in the form of punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alves struggling a bit here.
Alves might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Carlo throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Carlo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Alves manages to work his way to half guard, despite Carlo's best efforts.
Alves is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Alves moves into full guard.

Alves wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carlo trying to control but Alves is working from the bottom.
Carlo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alves is keeping the position for now.
Alves keeping moving, preventing Carlo from controlling successfully.

Alves is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Alves is trying to keep Carlo in close.

Alves is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alves seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jim Carlo.
A looping hook to the body misses from Carlo. Alves does a little dance to reset his feet.
Alves throws out a powerful jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Good work by Carlo as he checks the leg kick.
Carlo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alves is fending him off so far but Carlo persists. Nope, Alves circles away and we're back to standing.
Carlo throws a predictable looking body shot
and Alves counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Guilherme Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carlo gets a takedown into half guard.
Alves is trying to maintain the position but Carlo is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carlo is working for a kimura but Alves is defending it quite comfortably.
Carlo wants to pass the guard but Alves is defending well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Carlo connects with a nice short shot to Alves's temple.

Carlo is trying to get an arm triangle but Alves is defending well.
Alves manages to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alves wants to get back to full guard.
Carlo wants to free his trapped foot but Alves is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Carlo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alves sees it coming and defends easily.
Carlo trying to advance position but Alves counters by regaining guard.
Carlo preventing the sweep.

Alves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carlo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Alves is looking for a triangle but Carlo pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Carlo will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jim Carlo's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Alves scores with a shot to the body.
A big right from Alves misses.
A left lands for Alves.

Carlo gets a double leg takedown into Alves's guard.

Alves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carlo defends well.

Alves is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Carlo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carlo wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.

Carlo content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Alves has locked up a guillotine! Alves's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Carlo is holding on here and Alves must be using up a lot of energy. Carlo has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Alves gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Guilherme Alves!
Post fight, Guilherme Alves stared into the camera and said 'I have been through some rough times as of late but I have my fans to give me the strength I need.'.
