Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Zenin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zenin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Helloween - Power. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vladimir Zenin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zenin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Okabe misses with a takedown attempt
letting Zenin counter with a right hand.
Okabe tries to bum rush Zenin with a series of wild strikes but Zenin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Zenin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Zenin misses the shot to the body.
Okabe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Danga de danga de dang - Zenin scores with a four punch combination!
Zenin just misses with a punch to the body.
Zenin is looking to clinch.
Okabe uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Zenin.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Okabe.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Okabe works to advance to full mount. Zenin defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Zenin is in all sorts of trouble here.

Okabe wants to pass the guard but Zenin is keeping the position.
Zenin has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Okabe has passed into side control.

Zenin tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Zenin manages to get to full guard.
Zenin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Okabe is one step ahead there.

Okabe cracks Zenin with a solid left hand.

Zenin wants to sweep here but Okabe controlling him for the moment.
Zenin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Okabe manages to get himself to full guard.
Zenin tries to free his leg and advance position but Okabe is retaining full guard.
Zenin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Okabe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Okabe wants to sweep but no luck.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zenin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Okabe's guard.
Okabe avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Zenin.
Okabe wants to improve his position but Zenin is controlling well.
Okabe keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Okabe has one foot on Zenin's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Okabe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zenin manages to avoid it.
Vladimir Zenin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Okabe scores with the left hand. Zenin knows he should have avoided that one.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Zenin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Okabe defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vladimir Zenin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Donk. Zenin catches Okabe right on the button with a cross.
A combination from Okabe does no damage.
Zenin misses the shot to the body.
Zenin throws a nice looking combination but Okabe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Okabe lands a right hook to the body.
Okabe throws a lazy right hand but Zenin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Zenin misses with a series of wild punches.
Zenin slips under a jab.
Zenin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Zenin takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Okabe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Zenin throws out the jab.

Zenin listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Okabe displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zenin.

Zenin tries to sprawl but Okabe drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Okabe thows a huge punch but Zenin dodges it nicely.
Zenin is looking to improve his position.
Okabe is keen to just control but Zenin is a slippery customer.
Zenin won't allow Okabe to pass to mount.
Okabe moves nicely into side control.
Okabe moves into full mount!
Zenin is in a horrible position here. Okabe smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Okabe lands a nice shot to the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zenin regains half guard.
Okabe wants to take a breather but Zenin is having none of it.
Zenin gets full guard.
Okabe wants to control from the top but Zenin keeps moving.
Okabe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Zenin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Okabe stands up over Zenin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Zenin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kenji Okabe has got the better of the ground game so far.

Zenin thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Zenin moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Okabe has worked his arm free - good work by Okabe!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Okabe manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Zenin is looking to work some ground and pound but Okabe has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenji Okabe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Zenin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Okabe missing with a left hand there. Zenin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Okabe throws a shot from downtown. Zenin moves away and avoids it.
Zenin throws a looping overhand right but Okabe ducks down to avoid it.
Okabe lands a jab to Zenin's midsection.
Okabe cracks Zenin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Okabe misses with a hook.
Okabe looks to land a right hand but Zenin moved out of range.
Zenin shoots in for a takedown but Okabe shows good takedown defense.

Zenin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Zenin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Okabe has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Zenin but great work by Okabe.
Okabe has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Okabe tries to control but Zenin wriggling away.
Okabe scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Zenin?


It looks like Vladimir Zenin has been cut.

Zenin is trying to escape the mount.
Okabe lands a big shot there that rocks Zenin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Okabe tries to control but Zenin wriggling away.
Zenin tries to reverse the position but Okabe maintains control.
Okabe controlling the pace for now.
Okabe trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Okabe has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Zenin's face.
Okabe lands a big elbow.


Zenin is rocked!
Okabe connects with a bit shot that sees Zenin covering up! More strikes from Okabe and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Okabe is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenji Okabe!
Kenji Okabe decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
