Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Olivier Levasseur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wes Richards!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Levasseur misses with a two punch combination.
Richards tries a head kick but it misses.
Richards goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Richards throws a wild body kick that Levasseur sees coming a mile off.
A chopping leg kick lands by Richards.
Levasseur fails to land with a series of punches.
A combination from Levasseur does no damage.
A head kick misses from Richards.
Levasseur scores with a jab to the body.
Levasseur avoids the head kick by Richards.
A right-left combo lands from Levasseur.
Levasseur throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Richards.
Levasseur misses with a kick to the body.
Richards avoids a punch combination nicely.
Levasseur takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Olivier Levasseur has been cut.

Levasseur turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Levasseur manages to end up in side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Levasseur goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Richards has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Levasseur but great work by Richards.
You can see the frustration on Levasseur's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Levasseur manages to work his way to half guard, despite Richards's best efforts.
Richards wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Levasseur uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Levasseur bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Richards's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Levasseur accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Levasseur drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Richards dives on top into guard.
Richards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Levasseur. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Levasseur is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Levasseur had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Richards defends it easily.

Richards tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Levasseur manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Richards moves in looking to clinch but Levasseur pushes him off.
Levasseur looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Richards plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Richards is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Levasseur.

Richards takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Levasseur lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Levasseur throws a series of strikes that have Richards backpedaling.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Richards walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Richards lands with a kick to the temple. Levasseur shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Richards goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Levasseur manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Richards on his heels. He'll look to pass Richards's guard now, I'm sure.

Levasseur drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Levasseur jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Olivier Levasseur overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Levasseur working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Richards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Richards manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Richards lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
