Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bubba Rugowski!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jensen tries to keep at a distance but Rugowski has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rugowski has a couple of punches blocked by Jensen.

Rugowski manages to break the clinch.
Rugowski lands a head kick. Jensen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Jensen misses with a body shot.

Rugowski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Rugowski clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Peter Jensen has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Jensen throws a body punch but Rugowski moves out of range.
Jensen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rugowski tries to avoid it but Jensen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rugowski to the ground. Rugowski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jensen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rugowski is fending him off so far but Jensen persists. Nope, Rugowski circles away and we're back to standing.

Jensen shoots in and drives through. Rugowski sprawls well.

It looks like Peter Jensen has been cut.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jensen is defended easily by Rugowski.
Peter Jensen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jensen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rugowski.
Rugowski cracks Jensen with a good jab.
Jensen swings for the body but Rugowski moves out of range.
Jensen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rugowski swivels and escapes.

Jensen's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Rugowski's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rugowski throws a looping overhand right but Jensen ducks down to avoid it.

Jensen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jensen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rugowski is squirming around, avoiding Jensen's attempts to control the action.
Rugowski is trying desperately to improve position.

Rugowski is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bubba Rugowski dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jensen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rugowski as he avoids it easily.
Rugowski misses with a looping left.
Rugowski tries to clinch up.

Jensen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jensen lands in his opponent's guard.
Rugowski manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jensen manages to get himself to full guard.

Jensen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rugowski decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rugowski displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jensen.
A left lands for Rugowski.
Rugowski is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Jensen avoids a kick to the body.
Jensen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rugowski tries to avoid it but Jensen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rugowski to the ground. Rugowski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rugowski wants to stand but Jensen is controlling his posture from full guard.

Rugowski gets to his feet. Jensen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Rugowski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jensen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jensen misses with a looping right.
Jensen moves out of range of the strikes.
Jensen throws an overhand right that lands on Rugowski's shoulder, as Rugowski tries to avoid the shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rugowski throws a hook to the side of Jensen's head but Jensen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jensen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jensen tries for a takedown but Rugowski sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rugowski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jensen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bubba Rugowski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Jensen dives in and grabs Rugowski's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rugowski pushes down on Jensen's head and hops out.
Rugowski doesn't manage to clinch there - Jensen circles away.
Jensen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Rugowski counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jensen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rugowski tries a head kick but it misses.

Jensen gets the takedown into side control.
Jensen is looking to take a break and control but Rugowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jensen is really struggling to control Rugowski but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee asks Jensen politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jensen prefers to stall for the moment though.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Peter Jensen wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Jensen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rugowski as he jumps to the side.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jensen has his takedown stuffed
letting Rugowski counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Jensen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rugowski lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jensen tries to clinch up
and Rugowski cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Rugowski displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jensen.
Rugowski tries to land a front kick but Jensen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Jensen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rugowski finds it's way round the side to connect with Jensen's head.
Rugowski throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jensen's head.
The fighters circle, before Rugowski throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Jensen's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Rugowski lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Bubba Rugowski!
After winning the bout, Bubba Rugowski thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
