The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kompau takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Chekananwangi shoots for a double leg takedown but Kompau sprawls well. He's pushed Chekananwangi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kompau fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fighters circling - Chekananwangi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nango Chekananwangi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chekananwangi throws a leg kick
and Kompau counters with a body kick.
Kompau throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Chekananwangi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kompau manages to avoid it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chekananwangi can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kompau got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chekananwangi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kompau has managed to get both his arms back between Chekananwangi's legs - danger averted.
Chekananwangi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kompau doesn't defend quickly enough and Chekananwangi has managed to lock this one up! Can Kompau escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Chekananwangi on a fantastic submission victory.

After the fight, Nango Chekananwangi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
