PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Virgil Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lazy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keller comes to the cage accompanied by War Music. The key to victory for Virgil Keller has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Virgil Keller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Lazy!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Keller checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Lazy walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Keller throws a hook but Lazy blocks it.
Keller throws a nice looking combination but Lazy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Keller takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lazy is defended easily by Keller.
Keller throws a hook to the side of Lazy's head but Lazy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lazy tries a head kick but it misses.
Lazy moves away from the strike by Keller.
Nice body punch from Lazy.
Keller throws a right hand that Lazy ducks under and follows up with a left that Lazy also avoids with ease.

Keller connects with a nice looking jab.
Lazy fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Keller.
Keller looks to land a body kick but Lazy moved away.
Lazy throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Keller looks to score with a jab to the body but Lazy is just out of range.
Virgil Keller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Keller is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lazy.
Keller lands with a straight right. Lazy didn't see that one coming.
Lazy misses with a low kick.
Keller lunges at Lazy with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lazy's hand.
Good work by Keller as he checks the leg kick.

Lazy throws a front kick aimed at Keller's knee but Keller avoids it well.
Lazy connects with a leg kick. Keller looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Keller looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Keller throws a head kick that misses.
Lazy slips a straight right by Keller.
Keller checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Keller misses with a straight left.
Keller throws a lazy right hand but Lazy sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Donk. Keller catches Lazy right on the button with a cross.
Lazy walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Keller checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Lazy throws a leg kick but Keller sees it coming and checks it nicely.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Keller checks a leg kick.
Lazy scores with a shot to the body.
Keller throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Keller throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lazy counters with a nice low kick that buckles Keller's knee momentarily.

Lazy scores with a takedown into Keller's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lazy preventing the sweep.
Lazy trying to control the position from guard on top but Keller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lazy advances position into side control!
Lazy trying to control the position but Keller is working away.
Lazy with the ground and pound but Keller regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Lazy wants to pass to mount but Keller is defending the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lazy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Virgil Keller will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lazy attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Lazy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Keller tries to avoid it but Lazy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Keller to the ground. Keller escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Keller looks to land a right hand but Lazy moved out of range.
Keller misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sloppy strikes from Keller. Those never looked like landing.
Nice defenses there by Lazy.
Lazy throws the left hand but Keller avoids the punch easily.
Keller throws an off balance right hand
and Lazy counters with a good low kick that Keller was not able to check.
Lazy attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Lazy tries to work over Keller's front leg with a kick but Keller checks it.
Nice uppercut there from Keller.

Lazy throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Lazy scores with a leg kick.
Lazy slips under a jab from Keller.
Virgil Keller is winning the standup battle so far.
Keller cracks a nice hook into Lazy's ribs.
Keller pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Keller checks the leg kick nicely there.
Keller will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lazy finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Keller swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Lazy throws a low kick, looking for Keller's leg but Keller calmly moves out of range.
Lazy will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Keller throws a jab when Lazy was well out of range.
Keller chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lazy can pounce on him.
Lazy shoots in looking for a takedown but Keller manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lazy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Keller misses with an uppercut. Lazy saw that one coming.
Lazy throws a front kick aimed at Keller's knee but Keller avoids it well.

Keller throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Keller lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Lazy connects with an inside leg kick.
Keller lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Keller misses with a hook. Lazy ducked under it nicely.

Lazy shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Lazy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Keller connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lazy scrambles back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Keller regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Lazy.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Keller keeping moving, preventing Lazy from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Virgil Keller dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Keller lands a jab.
Keller cracks Lazy on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Lazy falls backwards against the cage. Keller follows up with more strikes that drop Lazy to his knees. Keller keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Lazy! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Virgil Keller!
A very excited looking Virgil Keller made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
