Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Gordon Freeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John McGuirk!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman misses with a hook.
Freeman leaves McGuirk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No joy there for McGuirk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McGuirk has a takedown stuffed.
McGuirk wants to clinch
and Freeman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McGuirk fails with a takedown attempt.
Gordon Freeman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John McGuirk.
Freeman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

McGuirk shoots in for a takedown but Freeman shows good takedown defense.
McGuirk tries to clinch
letting Freeman counter with a right hand.
Freeman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Freeman throws a series of punches but McGuirk avoids them all with ease.
Freeman keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McGuirk throws a leg kick which misses Freeman's front leg but catches the back leg as Freeman tries to avoid it.
McGuirk cracks Freeman with a good jab.
McGuirk misses with a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGuirk has a takedown stuffed.
McGuirk lands with a cross.


It looks like Gordon Freeman has been cut.
McGuirk tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Freeman counters with a left to the body.
McGuirk throws a right and a left that both miss.
McGuirk tries to clinch there but Freeman circles away.
McGuirk tries to clinch up but Freeman circles away and keeps his distance.
McGuirk takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGuirk pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McGuirk moves out of range as Freeman strikes.
Freeman throws a hook but McGuirk avoids it easily.
McGuirk misses with a wild combination.
A left and a right from Freeman both land. Nice combination.
McGuirk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Freeman circles away quickly and effectively.
McGuirk doesn't manage to clinch there - Freeman circles away.
Freeman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McGuirk.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGuirk throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
McGuirk tries to close the distance and clinch but Freeman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McGuirk clinches.

McGuirk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Freeman scores with a jab to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McGuirk shoots in but Freeman avoids the takedown attempt easily.

McGuirk clinches up against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGuirk creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
McGuirk is trying to drag Freeman to the mat but Freeman just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gordon Freeman will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Gordon Freeman's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McGuirk is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Freeman.
McGuirk uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Freeman.

McGuirk moves into the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by McGuirk as Freeman tries to tie him up.
McGuirk tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Freeman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McGuirk shoots in for a takedown but Freeman shows good takedown defense.
McGuirk throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Freeman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

McGuirk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Freeman circles away quickly and effectively.
Freeman looks to land a right hand but McGuirk moved out of range.
McGuirk swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Freeman counter with a right hand.
Freeman keeps the fight on the outside.
No luck for McGuirk with that takedown attempt.
McGuirk throws a head kick that misses.

McGuirk gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Freeman is trying to stall.
McGuirk tries to break free but Freeman pushes him back against the cage.
Freeman utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
McGuirk is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Freeman tries to stall but McGuirk uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

McGuirk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
John McGuirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Freeman thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on McGuirk if he has to take too many more of those.
Freeman smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
McGuirk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Freeman as he jumps to the side.
Good shot there by Freeman.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Freeman stuffs the takedown attempt from McGuirk. McGuirk gets slowly back to his feet.
Gordon Freeman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McGuirk thows a left - swing and a miss!
McGuirk doesn't manage to clinch there - Freeman circles away.
A decent looking cross lands there for Freeman.
Freeman thuds a left hand into McGuirk's body.
Freeman is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
McGuirk with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Freeman to score with a decent uppercut.


McGuirk is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Freeman lands an uppercut out of nowhere! McGuirk falls backwards - clearly groggy! Freeman dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gordon Freeman!
