The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardozo shoots and misses
and Mercer counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Cardozo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alex Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cardozo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Good leg kick by Mercer there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mercer feints and then cracks Cardozo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cardozo down.
Cardozo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mercer but Mercer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Helio Cardozo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cardozo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cardozo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Cardozo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mercer as he jumps to the side.
Cardozo is breathing heavily.
Cardozo walks into a left hand.
Cardozo dives in and grabs Mercer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mercer pushes down on Cardozo's head and hops out.
A left lands for Mercer.

Cardozo is rocked!

Mercer pushes Cardozo away with a front kick.
Oh Cardozo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cardozo is aggressively charging in as Mercer backs up avoiding any damage. Mercer tosses out a jab and Cardozo runs right into it face first! Cardozo is out cold! Mercer dropped down on all fours and is barking in Cardozo's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
