Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vince Willis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuai Liang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liang is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by So Cold by Breaking Benjamin. Kuai Liang has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vince Willis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kuai Liang!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liang motions for Willis to come forward. Liang throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Liang.
Liang tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Willis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Liang clinches up against the cage.
Liang is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Willis has clasped his hands together around Liang's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Willis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Liang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Willis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Liang is not content to let Willis control the position.

The ground and pound from Willis seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Willis throwing strikes but Liang manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Willis controlling the position for now.

Willis lands a decent shot there.
Willis wants to sweep here but Liang controlling him for the moment.
Liang throws a big right hand that misses.
Liang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Willis has his foot on Liang's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Liang works his way back into a safe position though.

Willis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Liang defends well.
Liang lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Willis gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Liang trying to control the action but Willis is working from the bottom.
Willis tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Liang is looking to take a break and control but Willis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vince Willis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Liang tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Willis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Liang loads up on a big right hand but Willis slips the punch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Liang looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Liang fails with an attempt to clinch.
Willis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Willis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Liang throws a head kick but Willis moves out of range.
Liang tries to clinch but Willis moves out of range.
A slow jab from Liang misses its intended target.
Horrible takedown by Willis or perhaps it was just good defense by Liang which made him look bad.
Liang misses with a wild body shot.
Liang tries to clinch up but Willis circles away and keeps his distance.
Liang takes a swing at Willis's ribcage but misses.
Liang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kuai Liang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Willis throws a jab but it's blocked by Liang.
Willis closes the distance and clinches up with Liang, looking for a takedown. Willis pushes Liang against the cage but Liang circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vince Willis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Willis thows a body shot but no joy.

Willis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Willis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Liang is just riding it out for now. Willis eventually gives up the hold.

Willis is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Liang!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Liang can do anything to dispel that myth.

BOOM! Willis connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Willis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Willis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Liang wants to hold on but Willis pushes him away.
Willis breaks from Liang's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Willis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Liang hang on?
Willis lands a nice shot to the head.
Willis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Liang is looking to escape.
Vince Willis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Liang can't escape the position.
Willis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Liang looks a forlorn figure.
Willis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Liang can do to turn this around?

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Willis cracks Liang with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Willis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Liang is in a horrible position here. Willis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Willis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Liang hang on?
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Willis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Liang is wriggling around trying to escape.

Liang is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Willis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Liang's face.
Liang is still in real trouble! Can Willis finish him?

Willis wants to finish this one by submission but Liang is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Willis.
Liang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Liang is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Willis postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Liang bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Willis and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vince Willis!
