And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Bond!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rojo scores with a leg kick.
Rojo with a nice cross.


It looks like Jonathan Bond has been cut.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bond.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Bond is trying to get an arm triangle but Rojo is defending well.
Rojo parries the strikes from Bond easily there. Bond is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rojo to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rojo wants to control but Bond postures up.
Bond tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Bond trying to control the position but Rojo is working away.

Bond tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Rojo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Rojo is not content to let Bond control the position.
Bond creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rojo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
You can see the frustration on Rojo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bond looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bond goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rojo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bond but great work by Rojo.
Bond struggling a bit here.
The strikes coming from Rojo are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Rojo misses with the ground and pound.
Bond is looking for a sweep.
Bond gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Bond regains full guard. Nicely done.
Rojo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rojo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Rojo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bond works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bond looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rojo has picked Bond up and slammed him! Bond can't keep hold of the triangle and Rojo manages to pass to side control!
Bond can't do much from the bottom here.
Bond tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Bond's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rojo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bond some visible discomfort.

Rojo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bond knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bond wants to get back to his feet.

Bond wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Bond managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Rojo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rojo stands up.
Bond dives in and grabs Rojo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rojo pushes down on Bond's head and hops out.
Rojo scores with a push kick.
Bond looks winded!

Rojo knocks Bond to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?


Bond is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rojo in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Bond is trying to improve his position.
Bond avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rojo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miguel Rojo dominated that round.

Bond gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!
