Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Brookheimer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georgio Socrates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Brookheimer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georgio Socrates!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Socrates fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brookheimer sprawls well initially but Socrates persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Socrates trying to pass the guard but Brookheimer defending well.
Brookheimer is trying to maintain the position but Socrates is very close to passing his half guard.
Brookheimer holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Brookheimer trying to hold on to Socrates's head to control him but Socrates postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Socrates content to control rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jimmy Brookheimer just wasn't active enough.

Socrates darts in and clinches Brookheimer up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Socrates jumps guard and drags Brookheimer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Brookheimer postures up in Socrates's guard and throws a big left but Socrates blocks it.

Socrates is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brookheimer is aware though and is defending well.
Socrates pulls Brookheimer in close to his closed guard and prevents Brookheimer from doing any damage or advancing position.
Brookheimer wants to control from the top but Socrates keeps moving.

Brookheimer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Socrates has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brookheimer has managed to get both his arms back between Socrates's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Socrates wants to stand and escape but Brookheimer is having none of it.
Brookheimer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Socrates works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brookheimer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Socrates looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brookheimer is one step ahead there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Socrates keeping moving, preventing Brookheimer from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
No luck for Socrates with that takedown attempt.
Brookheimer just misses with a punch to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brookheimer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Socrates circles away.

Socrates has closed the distance and engaged Brookheimer in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Socrates's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Socrates works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Socrates prevents a body shot from Brookheimer.
Brookheimer jumps guard but Socrates stands there with Brookheimer around his waist. Brookheimer gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Socrates content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Brookheimer is trying to pull guard but Socrates turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Brookheimer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Socrates escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Brookheimer misses the jab.
Brookheimer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Socrates moves away.

Brookheimer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Socrates, pushing him back against the cage.
Socrates goes for a takedown attempt but Brookheimer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Socrates shoots for a takedown but Brookheimer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brookheimer throws a leg kick but Socrates moved away.
Brookheimer scores with a jab. Socrates acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brookheimer swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Socrates blocks the body kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Georgio Socrates dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Socrates gets the takedown into side control.

Socrates stands up and beckons Brookheimer to his feet.
Brookheimer fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Socrates is out of range.
Socrates slips under a jab.

Socrates rushes Brookheimer and presses him up against the cage.

Socrates pulls guard successfully.
Brookheimer throws a big elbow that misses.
Socrates pulls Brookheimer in to control the position.
Brookheimer throws a big elbow that misses.
Socrates has Brookheimer pulled in close to control his posture.
Brookheimer with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brookheimer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Brookheimer throwing strikes from guard but Socrates blocks nicely.
Socrates lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brookheimer!
Socrates thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Socrates looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Socrates trying to control but Brookheimer is having none of it.

Brookheimer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Socrates breaks from Brookheimer's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Brookheimer tries to hold on but Socrates pushes him away.

Socrates is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Brookheimer is forced to tap! Great finish!
