PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jax Teller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Kafka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kafka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Welcome to the Jungle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Viktor Kafka told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jax Teller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Viktor Kafka!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kafka looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Teller walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kafka jabs Teller right on the nose. Teller blinks but takes it well.
Kafka shoots for a takedown but Teller saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kafka feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Teller's calf.
Kafka throws a leg kick that is checked
and Teller makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Teller slaps away a takedown attempt from Kafka, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kafka swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kafka throws the left hand but Teller avoids the punch easily.
Teller lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Teller.


It looks like Viktor Kafka has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kafka uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Teller.

and Kafka counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kafka thows a huge punch but Teller dodges it nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kafka is looking to take a break and control but Teller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kafka throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kafka thows a huge punch but Teller dodges it nicely.

Kafka tries to free his leg and advance position but Teller is retaining full guard.

Teller is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jax Teller wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Kafka feints a jab promting Teller to slip. Kafka then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Teller slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kafka throws a sloppy head kick and Teller moves out of range easily.
Kafka wants to slow Teller down by chopping away at his legs.
Teller throws a right and a left that Kafka avoids nicely.
Teller cracks Kafka with a good jab.
Kafka throws a nice outside leg kick.

Teller gets caught napping as Kafka dives in and scores a takedown. Teller manages to retain guard.
Kafka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Teller swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kafka won't allow Teller to sweep him here.
Kafka is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Teller is on top in guard.

Kafka has his foot on Teller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Teller works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Teller is looking to work some ground and pound but Kafka has wrist control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Teller misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Kafka cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Teller ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jax Teller is winning the standup battle so far.
Kafka lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Teller at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kafka. Teller does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kafka throws a lazy uppercut
and Teller counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Kafka looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kafka shoots for a double leg takedown but Teller sprawls well. He's pushed Kafka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Teller is looking to slow Kafka down with leg kicks.
Teller misses with a straight left.
Kafka thows a body shot but no joy.
Kafka looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Kafka shoots in but no luck this time.
Jax Teller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Viktor Kafka.

Kafka will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jax Teller is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kafka needs to keep his hands up - Teller had a free shot at his head there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kafka pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kafka is looking to score with low kicks.
Kafka throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Teller bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kafka's head.
Kafka takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Teller moves into range and clinches up with Kafka.
Teller is trying to force a seperation but Kafka has the dominant position.
The referee is keeping an eye on Kafka - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Teller lands a nice elbow.

Kafka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kafka throws a front kick aimed at Teller's knee but Teller avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Kafka's jab looks to have found its range, popping Teller under the eye.
Kafka jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kafka shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Teller defends it nicely.
Teller swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Teller ducks under a wild hook from Kafka.
Teller misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Teller slaps away a takedown attempt from Kafka, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Teller throws a head punch that misses.
Kafka is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Kafka misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Teller lands a hook that snaps the head of Kafka backwards.

Kafka manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Teller wants to get back to striking at distance but Kafka won't allow it.
Come on Kafka - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Kafka tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Kafka is trying to maintain a safe position but Teller gets an underhook and turns Kafka into the cage.
Kafka is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Teller pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Teller's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Teller lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Kafka is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Teller has denied him.
Teller misses with an elbow strike.
Teller tries to break free but Kafka pushes him back against the cage.
Teller throws an elbow that misses.

A bit of stalling here from Kafka.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Viktor Kafka.
Teller displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kafka.
Kafka takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Teller takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Kafka staying out of range there.
Teller fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kafka has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Teller misses with a hook. Kafka ducked under it nicely.
Teller sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kafka throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kafka is trying hard to land a takedown here. Teller sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Teller is looking to chop away at Kafka's legs.

Kafka throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Teller tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kafka is in Teller's guard.
Teller wants to stand but Kafka is controlling the position.

Teller bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kafka's guard.

Kafka is controlling Teller's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Teller thows a huge punch but Kafka dodges it nicely.
Kafka is looking to improve his position.
Teller is trying to control. Kafka wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jax Teller.
I think Teller has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jax Teller really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that TFP Graphics - Pit Inc logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
