PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Ek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niko Langfors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Langfors has chosen Amaranthe - Hunger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langfors with a nice cross.
Ek takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Langfors connects with a body shot.
Ek jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Langfors ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Ek has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Langfors finds it's way round the side to connect with Ek's head.
Ek takes a shot to the body in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Langfors punishes Ek's body with a nice straight punch.
Ek takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Langfors dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Langfors lands with a straight right. Ek didn't see that one coming.
Ek shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Ek moves into range and clinches up with Langfors.
Langfors is looking to break free of the clinch but Ek has double underhooks.

Ek manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ek holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ek looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Ek jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Langfors manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Langfors shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ek eats them both and turns towards Langfors to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Ek closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ek.
A decent looking cross lands there for Langfors.
Ek swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Langfors connects with a right hand. Ek shakes it off.
Ek moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Langfors cracks Ek with a good jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Langfors bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ek's head.

Langfors connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Langfors tries to bum rush Ek with a series of wild strikes but Ek uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Ek dives in and scores a takedown into Langfors's guard.
Ek seems to have got his legs back now.
Ek wants to control from the top but Langfors keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Marcus Ek just wasn't active enough.
Langfors scores with a one two! Ek had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Ek walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Ek closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ek lands in his opponent's guard.
Ek tries to free his leg and advance position but Langfors is retaining full guard.

Ek drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Langfors dives on top into guard.

Langfors avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Langfors really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ek backs away from a small jab... but Langfors lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Ek crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Langfors with a spectacular finish!

A relieved looking Niko Langfors thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
