PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emanoel Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kale Ravenal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kale Ravenal was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emanoel Moreno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kale Ravenal!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ravenal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Moreno was well out of range. Poor timing from Ravenal.

Ravenal shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Moreno moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ravenal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ravenal wants to pass the guard but Moreno is keeping the position.
Moreno controls Ravenal momentarily but Ravenal frees himself.
Ravenal wants to control from the top but Moreno keeps moving.

Moreno looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Moreno wants to sweep here but Ravenal controlling him for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ravenal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Moreno works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ravenal throws an elbow that misses. Moreno uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ravenal's guard. Nice move by Moreno!
Ravenal is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Moreno trying to control the position from guard on top but Ravenal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Moreno trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Ravenal working for a triangle but Moreno defends it easily.
Moreno prevents Ravenal from getting back to his feet.
Moreno looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moreno preventing the sweep.

Ravenal is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moreno defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ravenal keeping moving, preventing Moreno from controlling successfully.

Ravenal looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ravenal has momentary wrist control but Moreno slips an elbow through the middle.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Moreno's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Moreno postures up and lands a big shot to Ravenal's brow.
Moreno passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Ravenal throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Ravenal bucks up and tries to throw Moreno off but instead Moreno has got his back!

Moreno looking for the choke but no joy.
Ravenal turns into Moreno and is now in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Moreno trying to keep a closed guard but Ravenal is proving a slippery customer.
Ravenal throws a big elbow that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ravenal working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Moreno wants to sweep here but Ravenal controlling him for the moment.
Ravenal wants to get up but he can't break Moreno's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emanoel Moreno dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Ravenal shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Moreno is trying to maintain the position but Ravenal is very close to passing his half guard.
Moreno is looking to improve his position.
Ravenal throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ravenal missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Moreno regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ravenal.

Moreno working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ravenal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ravenal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ravenal wants to control from the top but Moreno keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Moreno has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ravenal doesn't defend quickly enough and Moreno has managed to lock this one up! Can Ravenal escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Moreno on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Emanoel Moreno!
