Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kelsey Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Ernst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Kelsey Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Tim Ernst!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Ernst throws a hook but Curtis blocks it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Ernst stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ernst wants it to stay on the feet.
Ernst lands a glancing blow to the side of Curtis's head.
Curtis moves out of range of the strikes.

Curtis drives through with a takedown into guard.
Curtis throws a big elbow that misses.
Ernst manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Curtis bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Ernst is trying to control the position but Curtis postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Curtis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ernst is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ernst has escaped and now he's on top!
Ernst won't allow Curtis to sweep him here.
Ernst wants to pass the guard but Curtis is keeping the position.
Curtis is trying to keep Ernst in close.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ernst must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Curtis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tim Ernst wasn't active enough on the ground.
Curtis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Curtis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Curtis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ernst.

and Ernst counters with a one-two to the body.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Curtis drops his hands momentarily and Ernst takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

That was a close round but I would say that Kelsey Curtis will probably get the nod.

Ernst thuds his right hand into Curtis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ernst throws a hook to the side of Curtis's head but Curtis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Ernst counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Curtis. Ernst does a little dance to reset his feet.

Ernst works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Ernst swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Curtis staying out of range there.
Curtis thows a body shot but no joy.

and Ernst makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Curtis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ernst is fending him off so far but Curtis persists. Nope, Ernst circles away and we're back to standing.
Ernst lands with a shot to the body.

Curtis's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ernst connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Curtis scrambles back to his feet.
Ernst throws a sloppy head kick and Curtis moves out of range easily.
Horrible takedown by Curtis or perhaps it was just good defense by Ernst which made him look bad.

Curtis takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Curtis swats away the attempt to clinch by Ernst.

Ernst misses with an uppercut.
Nice takedown defense from Ernst. No joy for Curtis on that attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ernst lands a right hook to the body.
Curtis fails with the takedown
and Ernst counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Ernst misses with the combination.
Ernst jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Ernst has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Tim Ernst showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Curtis takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Curtis shoots in looking for a takedown but Ernst manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Curtis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ernst, right into the meat.

Ernst is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Curtis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Curtis fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Curtis tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Ernst is looking to reverse the position.
Ernst is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Curtis off and has taken his back!
Kelsey Curtis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ernst keeps control of the position easily here as Curtis tries to buck him off.

Ernst's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Curtis prevents Ernst from getting a body triangle.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Ernst is looking for the choke from the back position but Curtis is controlling his hands well.

Ernst tries to get the hooks in deep but Curtis pushed the leg off.
Curtis is really stuck here.
Curtis rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Ernst tries to pass the half guard into mount. Curtis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tim Ernst was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Curtis shoots in for a double leg but Ernst sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ernst stalks Curtis and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Curtis's face. Curtis staggers backwards, shaken.
Ernst tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Curtis was well out of range. Poor timing from Ernst.
Curtis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ernst misses with a body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Curtis doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Ernst counter with a right hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tim Ernst comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ernst has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
