It looks like John Simons III has been cut.
Simons III throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aoki thuds his right hand into Simons III's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Aoki throws a right and a left that Simons III avoids nicely.

Simons III will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Aoki is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Simons III will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
