PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Djoser Rei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Dragon's choice of entrance music: puff the magic dragon. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dragon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rei connects with a solid leg kick.
Rei doesn't manage to clinch there - Dragon circles away.
Rei connects with a good right hand that stumbles Dragon. Dragon circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

It looks like Don Dragon has been cut.
Rei scores with a hook to the body. Dragon takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Dragon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rei.
Rei bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dragon moves out of range of the leg kick from Rei.
Dragon drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Dragon swings for the body but Rei moves out of range.

Dragon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rei.

and Rei counters with a stiff right hand.

Rei throws a nice inside leg kick.
Dragon looks winded!

Rei feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Dragon sprawling to the canvas! Dragon rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Rei finish him?!

That has opened up Don Dragon's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rei tries to land a body kick

and Dragon counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Dragon looks to land a strike but Rei avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Rei is pulling down on Dragon's head. It's preventing any offense from Dragon, at least for the moment.

Rei is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dragon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Djoser Rei wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Dragon takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Dragon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Dragon wants to pass the guard but Rei is defending well.

Rei tries to get to full guard but Dragon has control of the leg.

Rei is trying to control but can't.
Still in half guard, Dragon seems content to control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rei throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Rei buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Rei misses with a head kick.
Rei connects with a body shot that sends Dragon's belly button to the back.
Rei connects with a solid leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rei connects with a leg kick. Dragon looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Rei tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rei misses with a wild body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rei fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dragon has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Dragon fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rei is out of range.

Dragon tries to land a front kick but Rei steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Rei lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rei.
That kick from Rei tenderised Dragon's leg. Dragon is trying to keep his angry face on.

Dragon has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rei.
Rei lands a body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rei scores with a hook to the body. Dragon takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Rei lands a brutal head kick. Dragon looks out on his feet and Rei throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
