Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Benny Bernardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahavir Ramanujam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramanujam has chosen Shiva in Exile - Ha'nadi as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernardo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ramanujam just misses with a punch to the body.
Bernardo checks the leg kick nicely there.
Ramanujam moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Ramanujam has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Bernardo.
Bernardo throws a low kick but Ramanujam moves out of range easily.

Bernardo thows a body shot but no joy.
Ramanujam misses with a kick to the body.
Ramanujam lands a jab to the nose.

Bernardo lands a big head kick that sends Ramanujam tumbling to the mat! Bernardo takes a step backwards and waves Ramanujam back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Mahavir Ramanujam has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ramanujam swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Bernardo tries to work over Ramanujam's front leg with a kick but Ramanujam checks it.
Bernardo tries to land a front kick but Ramanujam steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Bernardo connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Ramanujam postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bernardo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ramanujam, into his guard.

Bernardo wants to stand and escape but instead Ramanujam has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ramanujam's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Bernardo is refusing to be controlled, as Ramanujam sits in half guard.

Bernardo tries to kick Ramanujam off but Ramanujam keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Bernardo is looking to improve his position.
Still in half guard, Ramanujam seems content to control.
Ramanujam wants to free his trapped foot but Bernardo is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Bernardo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bernardo tries to get out of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Benny Bernardo will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Bernardo counters with a nice low kick that buckles Ramanujam's knee momentarily.
Bernardo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Ramanujam connects with a right hand. Bernardo shakes it off.

Ramanujam fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bernardo sprawls well initially but Ramanujam persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ramanujam has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Bernardo defend it? Ramanujam steps over the head and cranks it - Bernardo is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ramanujam!
