The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brett wants to land a leg kick but Velasquez is out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Velasquez. No joy for Brett on that attempt.
Velasquez misses with an uppercut.
John Jairo Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velasquez misses the body punch
and Brett counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Brett.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Brett is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A less than humble Benny Brett misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
