Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Patos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Hess is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Hess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucas Patos!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patos dives in and grabs Hess's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hess pushes down on Patos's head and hops out.
Hess throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Patos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hess misses with a head kick.
Patos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hess but Hess pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Patos is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Patos throws a front kick aimed at Hess's knee but Hess avoids it well.
Patos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Patos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hess counters with a two punch combo.
Jake Hess has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Patos.

Hess clinches up with Patos and pushes him back against the cage.

Patos gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Hess is looking to improve his position.
Hess wants to control but Patos is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patos is trying to control the action in half guard but Hess is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hess is looking to escape.
Patos passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hess!
Hess blocking the ground and pound.

Patos goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hess is on top in guard.
Hess throwing strikes but missing.
Patos looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hess wants to control from the top but Patos keeps moving.
Hess scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Hess prevents Patos from getting back to his feet.
Patos looks winded!
Hess trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hess trying to control but Patos is working from the bottom.
Hess looking to pass the guard.
Hess slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Patos tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Hess.
Patos avoids the head kick by Hess.
Hess lands a high kick!
An inside leg kick lands from Hess.
Good standup being displayed there by Hess as he connects with a hook.

Hess closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hess has picked Patos up - he's going for a ride! Hess dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Patos trying to control but Hess postures up.
Hess wants to control but Patos is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Patos is trying to get back to full guard.
Hess slows the pace down in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Patos is doing well to control the position and prevent Hess from advancing to side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hess throws a head kick that misses.

Hess darts in and clinches Patos up against the cage.
Patos is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hess is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patos trying to stall but Hess improves his position.

Hess has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Patos uses from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Hess dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hess throws a leg kick but Patos moved away.

Patos gets tackled into the cage by Hess. Hess maintains the clinch.

Hess has Patos pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hess pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Patos tumbling to the mat - Hess dives into Patos's guard.
Patos is trying to keep Hess in close.
Hess wants to control from the top but Patos keeps moving.
Patos pulls Hess in close to prevent any damage.
Hess trying to control the position from guard on top but Patos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Patos moves to clinch but Hess breaks away
and Patos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patos blocks a head kick by Hess.
A head kick misses from Hess.
Hess looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hess tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Patos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hess gets a takedown into half guard.
Patos is looking to escape.
Hess wants to control but Patos is keeping him busy.
Hess thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patos misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Hess working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hess trying to advance position but Patos counters by regaining guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Patos has his feet on Hess's thighs here. He's pushed Hess off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Hess screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lucas Patos!
