And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Falaris!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Astronomer circles away from the clinch attempt

so Astronomer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Astronomer lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Astronomer cracks Falaris with a solid left hand.
Astronomer with a flurry of punches that miss.
Astronomer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Astronomer throwing strikes from guard but Falaris blocks nicely.

Astronomer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Astronomer wants to control from the top but Falaris keeps moving.
Falaris is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Falaris is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Astronomer scores with a couple of nice shots.
Falaris wants to get back to his feet.
Astronomer takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Astronomer missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Falaris is looking to escape.
Astronomer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Falaris knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Astronomer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Astronomer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Astronomer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Astronomer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Astronomer is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Falaris is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Astronomer scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Falaris keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Astronomer drops an elbow to the side of Falaris's head.
Astronomer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Falaris keeps working.
Astronomer is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Falaris!
Falaris is in a horrible position here. Astronomer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Astronomer lands a nice shot to the head.
Astronomer scoring with strikes but Falaris is staying in there.
Astronomer in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Falaris wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Falaris is rocked!
Astronomer lands a big elbow - Falaris is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Falaris is forced to tap out!

A relieved looking Learned Astronomer thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
