PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shane Doby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peppu Reiska MacDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doby comes to the cage accompanied by International Players Anthem. MacDonald has chosen Placebo - Pure Morning as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peppu Reiska MacDonald!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doby misses with a hook. MacDonald ducked under it nicely.

MacDonald shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Doby napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Doby tries to bench press MacDonald off him but MacDonald keeps the position.
Doby gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
MacDonald wants to take a breather but Doby is having none of it.
MacDonald trying to mount his opponent but Doby defends it.
MacDonald working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Doby gets back to full guard.
MacDonald trying to control but Doby is working from the bottom.
Doby preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Doby is looking for a triangle but MacDonald pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Doby is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. MacDonald is aware though and is defending well.
MacDonald with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doby looking to hit a scissor sweep but MacDonald is one step ahead there.
MacDonald wants to pass the guard but Doby is keeping the position.

MacDonald got a little sloppy there for a moment and Doby has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, MacDonald has managed to get both his arms back between Doby's legs - danger averted.

Doby is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. MacDonald is aware though and is defending well.
MacDonald tries to free his leg and advance position but Doby is retaining full guard.
Doby bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in MacDonald's guard.
MacDonald manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
MacDonald landing strikes, looking to finish!
Doby is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Doby is working hard here to advance position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
MacDonald with good strikes from the mount here!
MacDonald prevents Doby from getting the reversal.
MacDonald pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doby in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Doby is rocked!
MacDonald is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Doby can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Oh Doby is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
MacDonald postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Doby bigstyle! Two more strikes land for MacDonald and the fight is over!
