Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Bond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Erikson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Erikson has chosen PrideFC as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jonathan Bond has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Bond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tom Erikson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bond scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Erikson controls the position for a moment.
Erikson is trying to control Bond's posture but Bond avoids it.
Erikson is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Erikson is looking to reverse the position.
Erikson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Erikson regains half guard.
Erikson wants to improve his position but Bond is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bond wants to lay and pray for a moment but Erikson keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Erikson tries to roll over but Bond keeps him under control.
Erikson gets back to full guard.
Bond passes Erikson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Erikson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Bond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bond is trying to work for a kimura but Erikson is defending well.
Erikson wants to improve his position but Bond is controlling well.

Bond is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Erikson wants to get back to full guard but Bond has mounted him!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bond swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Erikson is now in Bond's guard. A big mistake from Bond there, giving up the dominant position!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bond striking off his back but it's not causing Erikson any problems.
Erikson cracks Bond with a solid left hand.
Bond looking to control.
Erikson trying to control the position from guard on top but Bond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Erikson is in close to Bond's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Erikson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Bond has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Erikson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Erikson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bond's head.

Bond working for a triangle but Erikson defends it easily.
Erikson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Erikson pushing down on Bond's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Erikson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Erikson lands a big elbow - Bond is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Erikson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Erikson!
Tom Erikson made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Pride never dies'.
