PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Taiki Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryo Yoshimitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki comes into the arena with Cudi the Kid blaring out of the sound system. Ryo Yoshimitsu is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Taiki Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryo Yoshimitsu!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki swats away the attempt to clinch by Yoshimitsu.
Aoki misses with a straight left.
Yoshimitsu tries to clinch up.
Aoki stuns Yoshimitsu with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Aoki. Yoshimitsu does a little dance to reset his feet.
Aoki moves away from the strike by Yoshimitsu.
Yoshimitsu tries to land a front kick but Aoki steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Aoki throws a looping overhand right but Yoshimitsu ducks down to avoid it.
Aoki defending well as Yoshimitsu loads up on a big left hand.

Aoki throws a body punch but Yoshimitsu moves out of range.
A shot to the liver by Aoki. Beautiful body shot.
Yoshimitsu throws a right hand that Aoki ducks under and follows up with a left that Aoki also avoids with ease.
Aoki shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Yoshimitsu pinned against the cage. Yoshimitsu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Aoki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Yoshimitsu throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yoshimitsu tries to bum rush Aoki with a series of wild strikes but Aoki uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Yoshimitsu rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Aoki counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Aoki is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yoshimitsu is just riding it out for now. Aoki eventually gives up the hold.

Aoki is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Yoshimitsu is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Taiki Aoki!
