Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karim Al Abib!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Abib misses the shot to the body.
Al Abib throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ortiz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Al Abib gets a double leg takedown into Ortiz's guard.
Al Abib is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Ortiz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Al Abib defends it easily.

Al Abib is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Ortiz lands a big shot there that rocks Al Abib but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Al Abib holds on for dear life, controlling Ortiz's posture momentarily.
Ortiz fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Al Abib tries to hold on but Ortiz pushes him away.

Ortiz with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ortiz stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Al Abib tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ortiz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ortiz swings around for an armbar but Al Abib sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ortiz's guard.

Al Abib got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ortiz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Al Abib has managed to get both his arms back between Ortiz's legs - danger averted.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
