Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ein Stein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Calbrentes!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calbrentes doesn't manage to clinch there - Stein circles away.
Stein slips under a jab.
Stein does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Calbrentes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Calbrentes just misses with a punch to the body.
Calbrentes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Stein gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Calbrentes lands a nice shot that snaps Stein's head back.


It looks like Ein Stein has been cut.
A leg kick checked by Stein.
A telegraphed right hand from Calbrentes misses the target.
Calbrentes tries to clinch up but Stein circles away and keeps his distance.
A head kick misses from Stein.
Stein swings for the body but Calbrentes moves out of range.
Stein throws an overhand right that lands on Calbrentes's shoulder, as Calbrentes tries to avoid the shot.
Calbrentes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stein tries to avoid it but Calbrentes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stein to the ground. Stein escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Stein lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Julio Calbrentes has been cut.

Stein punishes Calbrentes's body with a nice straight punch.
Stein avoids the head kick by Calbrentes.
Stein has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Stein throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Calbrentes on the side of the head.

Calbrentes wants to get back to his feet but Stein is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Stein tries to throw a body punch but Calbrentes avoids it by throwing Stein back against the cage.
Stein digs a right hand underneath Calbrentes's ribcage. Calbrentes let out a lung full of air as it connected.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Calbrentes swings wildly with an uppercut but Stein uses good head movement to avoid it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Stein has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
