Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renato Laranja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bleed It Out. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Laranja is defended easily by Machida.
No luck for Laranja with that takedown attempt.
Laranja takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Machida circles away from the clinch attempt.
A clash of legs there as Machida blocks the low kick.
Laranja is looking to clinch.
Laranja shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Machida as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renato Laranja. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Laranja wants to clinch but Machida slips to the side
enabling Machida to counter with a crisp jab.

and Machida counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Machida uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Laranja has time to react.

Machida leaves Laranja with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Laranja or perhaps it was just good defense by Machida which made him look bad.
Laranja will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fighters circle momentarily. Machida darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Machida catches Laranja with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Machida lands a nice shot that snaps Laranja's head back.
Laranja shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machida as he avoids it easily.

Laranja drops his hands momentarily and Machida takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

and Machida counters with a nice uppercut.
Renato Laranja seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laranja takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Machida connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Laranja shoots for a takedown but Machida saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Laranja moves out of range of the body kick.
Laranja walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A slow jab from Laranja misses its intended target.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Laranja. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Machida keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Machida moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Laranja shoots in for a double leg but Machida sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Laranja's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Machida connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Laranja scrambles back to his feet.
Machida lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Laranja blocks the body kick.

and Machida counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Laranja tries to close the distance and clinch but Machida swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Laranja moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Laranja tries to close the distance and clinch up but Machida swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Machida moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Machida lands with an uppercut that bounces Laranja off the cage and back into range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Machida throws a good cross that connects.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryoto Machida dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Laranja closes the distance and pushes Machida back into the cage.
Machida gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Laranja.
Machida has had enough of the clinch but Laranja keeps him there for the moment.

Nice straight punches there by Machida. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Machida.

Machida rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laranja moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Machida Throws a clean left jab. Machida Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Laranja's chin! Laranja crumbles to the ground and Machida follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Machida!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ryoto Machida!
A relieved looking Ryoto Machida thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
