Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Grapist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Alaniz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Grapist might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Know Your Enemy by Rage Against the Machine. Alaniz has chosen Slippin as his entrance music. Jerry Grapist had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jerry Grapist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charlie Alaniz!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alaniz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Grapist looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Alaniz happy to just control the position for now.

Alaniz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Alaniz lands some shots froms side control.
Alaniz in side control lands a decent elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alaniz is working Grapist over with some ground and pound from side control.
Alaniz working the head and body with strikes.


Grapist is rocked!
Alaniz grinds an elbow into Grapist's temple.
Oh Grapist is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grapist wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Alaniz is working to tighten is grip on Grapist's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Grapist has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Alaniz is really squeezing tight and eventually Grapist passes out! Alaniz breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Charlie Alaniz!
Our winner, Charlie Alaniz, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
