Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurgel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gurgel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Vera.
Good leg kick by Vera there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Gurgel throws a right hand that Vera ducks under and follows up with a left that Vera also avoids with ease.
Gurgel takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Vera lands a left and a right that send Gurgel crashing to the mat, dazed. Vera thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Joaozinho Gurgel has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gurgel tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Vera! Gurgel is out on his feet! Vera rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Gurgel is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Gurgel is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Vera!
