PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Corrida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Corrida might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Shadowhunter. Lucas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Serial Killer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Corrida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 13 - 2, fighting out of New York, Henry Lucas!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas dodges the punch combination from Corrida.
Lucas thows a left - swing and a miss!
Corrida throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lucas counters with an inside leg kick.
Corrida cracks Lucas with a good jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Corrida. Lucas does a little dance to reset his feet.
Corrida checks the leg kick.
Lucas avoids the head kick by Corrida.

Corrida moves into the clinch.
A short right from Corrida on the inside.
Corrida misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Corrida drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lucas pulls his leg out and moves away.
Corrida throws a leg kick
and Lucas counters with a leg kick.
Lucas throws the left hand but Corrida avoids the punch easily.

Lucas slips a jab and a cross from Corrida.
Lucas scores with a decent looking hook.
Lucas waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Corrida.
A clash of legs there as Lucas blocks the low kick.
Corrida looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Corrida throws a leg kick that misses.
Lucas throws a chopping leg kick but Corrida manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Corrida looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Lucas tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Corrida manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Corrida throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lucas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lucas wants to clinch up but Corrida keeps it at a distance.
Corrida moves out of range of the body kick from Lucas.
Lucas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lucas moves forwards but Corrida connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Lucas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Corrida.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Corrida throws a nice outside leg kick.

Corrida moves out of range of the body kick.
Corrida takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Corrida lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Lucas throws a body kick that misses.

Corrida wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Corrida scores with a hook to the body. Lucas takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Lucas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Corrida sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lucas swings for the body but Corrida moves out of range.
Lucas misses with a hook.
Corrida tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lucas is able to avoid easily.
Lucas takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Corrida keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Henry Lucas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lucas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Corrida to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Corrida slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lucas wants to sweep here but Corrida controlling him for the moment.
Lucas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Corrida keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lucas's head.

Lucas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Corrida has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Corrida is looking to work some ground and pound but Lucas has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Corrida advances to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Corrida lands a nice short elbow.
Corrida is keen to just control but Lucas is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Corrida dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Corrida misses the shot to the body.
Lucas scores with a jab.
Corrida avoids the head kick by Lucas.
Lucas lands a head kick. Corrida smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Juan Corrida has been cut.
Corrida takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Corrida fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Corrida looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Corrida is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lucas sees it coming and defends easily.
Lucas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Corrida's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Corrida's back!

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Corrida's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Corrida manages to reverse the position and now he's in Lucas's guard. Nice work there by Corrida.

Corrida trying to control the position from guard on top but Lucas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lucas pulls Corrida in close to prevent any damage.
Lucas is trying to keep Corrida in close.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lucas holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Henry Lucas wasn't active enough on the ground.

Lucas throws a leg kick but Corrida sees it coming and moves out of range.

Corrida fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lucas, pushing him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Corrida scores with a nice hook to the head.
Lucas throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Corrida blocks it with crossed arms.
Lucas is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Corrida is defending well for now.
Lucas blocks an uppercut.
Lucas throws a head punch that misses.
Lucas misses with a body punch.
Lucas throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Corridas head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Corrida tries to throw a body punch but Lucas avoids it by throwing Corrida back against the cage.
Corrida lands with a right to the head.
Lucas lands a left hand that snaps the head of Corrida backwards.
Corrida lands a left hand that snaps the head of Lucas backwards.
Corrida misses with the head strike.
Corrida tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Lucas's elbow.
Corrida is trying to pull guard but Lucas has him pressed against the cage.

Corrida tries to pull guard but Lucas forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Corrida tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Corrida. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lucas blocks a punch to the side of the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lucas creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Corrida scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Lucas misses with a hook from the clinch.
Corrida blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Corrida gets control of Lucas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Corrida will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Corrida escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lucas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Corrida is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Lucas rolls with it to try and escape but Corrida cranks on the arm and Lucas is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Juan Corrida!
In his post fight interview, Juan Corrida gave a big smile as he said 'Now go get your fuckin' shinebox.'.
