Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rocky Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kent Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson throws a low kick but Phillips avoids it.
Tyson drops Phillips with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Phillips looks back up at him and smiles so Tyson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Kent Phillips has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tyson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Phillips moves away.
Tyson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
A jab from Tyson finds it's way through Phillips's defenses.
Phillips slips a jab and a cross from Tyson.
Phillips tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Tyson explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Phillips moves out of range as Tyson throws a body kick.
Tyson cracks the inside of Phillips's front leg.
Phillips walks straight into a right hand from Tyson - that's dropped him! Tyson jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Phillips from any more punishment! Phillips complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Rocky Tyson!
After winning the bout, Rocky Tyson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
